group accomplished the herculean task of organizing and
implementing a rich palette of architectural detail
and style via the Celebration Pattern Book. Robert A.M.
Stern (RAMSA)
and Jaquelin T. Robertson (Cooper
Robertson & Partners) were involved in
formulating the master plan that artfully places a
wide mix of home sizes in a modified grid pattern on
tree lined streets with alleys behind to keep garage
doors and service areas out of sight. Even the
tiny U.S. post office downtown was designed by
famous architect and designer Michael Graves (Michael
Graves Design Group).
Celebration is known around
the world for it's classic southern aesthetic and
pedestrian friendly layout. The town is
situated on approximately 4900 acres and encompasses
large tracts of green space that divide the town
naturally into smaller sub-areas or villages.
The town is full of active parks, playgrounds,
lakes, ponds, nature trails and boardwalks.
Celebration is frequently held up as a prime example
of New Urbanism and Neo-Traditional design.
